Mr. Inbetween

A Killer Series

Where do I begin?

A trailer for this show appeared on my screen just as I was about to dive deeper into my current viewing binge and I knew instantly that this show would be a good fit for me. Let me start by saying I rarely purchase a show before it comes out for viewing on my subscriptions, but this was my first exception in a long time. I took a risk, I entered my secret passcode and pulled the trigger. This is a killer show, about a killer, who well you know...kills people for money. However, this heavy hitter of a series about a hitman is surprisingly relatable, not to sound like a psychopath or anything…

You see the main character, Ray Shoesmith, played by Scott Ryan is somewhere in between a lowlife killer for higher and a father, brother, and boyfriend hence the shows title. There are many things about this show that I really enjoy, again not to sound like a psychopath or anything…

The dark and dry humor is right up my alley for one and the way in which this comedy is delivered from scene to scene is great. The cuts between scenes are quick and this style keeps you interested both visually and intellectually. There is actual substance to this show, and it addresses many problems prevalent and relatable in our daily lives. These issues range from the age old relationships of mortality and family to the most recent dark developments of our society such as cyber bullying. Although we might not be in the situations as a money collecting hitman, we can undoubtedly see many similarities between our own lives and the characters within this show and hopefully gain a deeper understanding for people around us, and realize that there is more going on in the lives of those around us than what is on the surface.
